If I have been treated for Trichomoniasis and it comes back a couple of weeks later, could I call my nurses from Nine Circles and ask them to send a prescription? or do I have to come in and get tested again?

Thanks for the question, we have a pretty clear answer for you. Clinicians at Nine Circles Community Health Centre will require an assessment with you which may include re-testing, before they send a prescription for Trichomoniasis.

While you may have similar symptoms to what you experienced with “Trich” previously, symptoms are not used for diagnostic purposes, so they will be required to re-assess you. They may encourage you to screen for other infections that can have similar symptoms e.g. gonorrhea, chlamydia, or others depending on your circumstances. They’ll also consider factors that could impact on the prescription’s suitability, like other medications you take, medical conditions you have, allergies, your plans around pregnancy, etc…

They would likely encourage your sexual partner(s) of any gender to be assessed for Trichomoniases too, in order to lower the chances of re-infection.

I hope that helps. Remember that you can book an STBBI testing appointment at Nine Circles or access drop-in testing on Wednesdays 12:30 – 7:00pm.
